A few weeks ago I applied for a graduate position for a software engineering consulting firm in Adelaide called SMS Management and Technology. Last week I received an invite to complete a couple of online tests. The first of these was testing literacy, numeracy and logic, and the other was to find out the type of person I (and other applicants) are like. They weren’t too difficult to deal with – I’ve done similar things for different places and situations.
Late this past week, I received another invitation from SMS as part of the application process. This one was, surprisingly, for an online video interview. I’d never heard of anything like it before – having an interview with someone without actually directly talking to anyone. Anyone else think that sounds weird?
A good thing about the online interview, to me, is that I was able to take it whenever I wanted (before it closes on Monday). So I decided to do it in the early afternoon yesterday. It turned out to be just as weird as I thought it was going to be, since there was no way to gauge whether my response could be understood by the interviewer or not. Thankfully, there was only 5 questions, so it wasn’t too hard to get through. Interestingly though, the last two questions were only a confirmation of whether I’ll be graduating this year (or graduated in the past couple of years), and whether I’m an Australian citizen. They were probably the easiest questions to answer.
I can’t wait to find out how I did on that interview. But anyway, that’s about it for this post. Thanks for reading.
Robert
